Iris Design Excellence Award
Newark Beth Israel’s Patricia Mitrano and Peter Richter Receive Garner Design Excellence Award.
Patricia Mitrano, director and Peter Richter, digital media specialist/photographer both of Creative Media Services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, were among the communications professionals honored by the International Association of Business Communicators- New Jersey Chapter (IABC-NJ) at their 26th annual award ceremony on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Summit, New Jersey.
The team received the IABC-NJ Iris Excellence in Design Award, presented to a communications professional or team that exemplifies expertise in writing and design with emphasis on the creative process and project execution. Mitrano and Richter’s winning entry “Newark Beth Israel Brands with Light Pole Banners” was an opportunity
for Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to be part of the City of Newark’s yearlong project to beautify the downtown district by highlighting city institutions.
“We designed the banners to capture the essence of our institution and each one features a portrait of one of our patients or physicians” states Mitrano, of West Orange, NJ. She adds “Newark Beth Israel is Newark’s best kept secret and this project’s goal was intended to change that.” “Several colleagues have told us they feel like local celebrities now that they are on our banners” adds Richter of Jefferson Township, whose portraits exude a depth of feeling. The Iris Award is the first excellence design recognition they
have acquired together.
